Träumen (to dream) was born from the assonance between the German word Traum and the Italian trauma, and took shape in 2022. It reflects an emotional journey into how unexpected events, such as traumas, can leave an indelible mark on each of us.
The photographs explore a process of personal elaboration that also resonates collectively: over a lifetime, all of us fight personal battles or stand by someone who is fighting one.
What we are is constantly evolving: the sum of what has happened to us and what will happen, of what we have lived through, but above all of how we have faced the traumas we have encountered so far.
Träumen
With träumen I want to stress that there is no right or wrong time to face what we have lived through: everyone has the right to their own pace. At the same time, I invite reflection on the risk of remaining suspended in a limbo, where traumas become an excuse to merely survive.
Taking the time to stop, listen to ourselves and reconnect is essential to regain our freedom and to live every relationship fully, with others and with ourselves.
